Everything you think you know about shampoo and conditioner is a lie
Everything you think you know about shampoo and conditioner is a lie
Most shampoos are damaging to your hair and toxic to the environment. We make cleansing and styling products that clean without harm, leaving you with beautiful, healthy hair — and a clean conscience.
No detergent, no dryness.
Detergents in shampoo strip your scalp and damage your hair. New Wash cleans without detergent, giving you a healthy, balanced scalp with no need for conditioner.
More time between washes.
Switching to New Wash allows your hair to return to its normal cycle of oil production, resulting in less grease and fewer wash days.
Solutions for every hair type.
Whether your hair is thick, straight, curly, or colored, New Wash has you covered! Search our reviews and see what customers with your concerns are saying.
Made with the environment in mind.
We don’t meet environmental beauty standards, we exceed them. New Wash is biodegradable, and ditching traditional shampoo and conditioner for our Refill System reduces plastic consumption by 91%.
MEET SOME HAPPY HEADS
Our customers experiences with New Wash
“I get questions all the time about what products I use on my hair; I’ve gotten them more and more now than I ever have before. Using a very moisturizing (product) like Hairstory New Wash, I don’t have to deal with the frizz at all. I wash my hair with New Wash and as it’s wet, I run the Hair Balm through it. After that, I don’t really have to do much. It’s no brainer hair.”

ENVIRONMENT
Is it a shampoo?
New Wash is not a shampoo. Shampoos contain harmful detergents that strip your hair of its good, protective oils while they clean. New Wash cleans using essential oils and fatty alcohols, not detergents, while still removing dirt and grease.
Is it a conditioner?
New Wash is not a conditioner. Conditioner does not clean the hair, it only replaces moisture after shampoo strips it. Though New Wash does contain conditioning elements, it also cleans your hair.
Will it clean my hair?
Yes! New Wash cleans using essential oils and fatty alcohols, all of which are naturally derived and biodegradable.
How often should I wash my hair with New Wash?
You can wash your hair daily, weekly, monthly (not really recommended); it’s completely up to you. New Wash is so gentle that you no longer need to worry about stripping your color or drying out your curls. When starting out with New Wash, we suggest sticking to your regular routine and you will find your rhythm over time. Many of our customers have found that they can go much longer between washes with New Wash (yay!). Your strands are safe, so wash away.
How does New Wash work?
New Wash cleans hair with a proprietary blend of essential oils and naturally-derived saturated cleansers. Detergent-free, sulfate-free, paraben-free, synthetic fragrance-free. And we do not test on animals. We also strive to reduce waste. If you love New Wash, please join the New Wash Club to receive a reusable aluminum bottle and our refill pouches. Help us reduce plastic waste!
Will this work for my hair type?
“Life-Changing” is the most commonly used phrase across thousands of reviews from customers with all different hair types. Perfect for “normal” scalps, natural curls, and color treated hair! Celebrate your curls! New Wash works with your hair texture instead of against it. This is the holy grail of color-treated hair: a new kind of cleanser that keeps pigment where it belongs (on your head, not down the drain). New Wash makes fine hair even softer and silkier while helping to make it easier to manage and style. Look forward to a more consistent texture (those grays can have a mind of their own), a softer feel, more cooperative curls, and a much happier scalp with New Wash.
Will my hair smell good?
Yes! New Wash has a natural fragrance with notes of rose, ylang-ylang, clove, and other essential oils. It does not contain synthetic fragrances, which can irritate sensitive scalps.
How long will it take for New Wash to work?
New Wash benefits hair immediately, but all hair types are different so some scalps need to adjust and may experience oil or flakes. This transition period is natural and more commonly experienced by oily or fine-haired users.
What if I have dandruff/flakes?
New Wash can help! A flaky scalp is often caused by irritating detergents found in shampoo. None of our New Wash formulas contain these irritants. In fact, they will help to calm inflamed, suffering scalps.
How often should I use New Wash?
Wash as frequently or infrequently as you see fit! New Wash is gentle enough to be used daily, even on colored hair, but many users have found they can go much longer between washes.
Isn’t it expensive?
Not when you factor in how many products New Wash replaces! Say goodbye to your shampoo and conditioner, plus many post-shower hair care products used to address styling, tangles, frizz, color-fade, etc. Additionally, many users report needing to wash less, which means a single pouch lasts longer.
How New Wash saves me money & time?
Meet the one product that cleans, conditions, detangles, and repairs – a safer, smarter way to wash and rinse. Spend far less on your hair care with New Wash; great hair is just one bottle away. New Wash simplifies your routine, period. Say so long to all those other products cluttering your shelves.
What is the environmental impact of New Wash?
Biodegradable New Wash comes to you in pouches, not plastic bottles, and one pouch replaces both your shampoo and conditioner. Switching from bottles of shampoo and conditioner to a single pouch of New Wash reduces plastic consumption by 91%.
