Here at Teen Vogue HQ, spring means many things: ditching layers when it comes to clothes (or, at least in theory, it’s still snowing in NYC…), trying trends we’ve been writing about for months, and of course, hair makeovers. After a long winter of hibernating and top knots, many of my coworkers have come to the beauty department, with Instagrams in tow, asking if I approve of such drastic hair moves as going gray (on purpose), buzz cuts and blonding à la Zayn (swoon), and brushes with blue and pink. So, when we teamed up with Hairstory Studio, the badass salon and innovative product company led by Michael Gordon, the founder of Bumble and Bumble, to get to know the edgy employees behind the brand, we figured, who better to make over our eager staff than them? The only challenge: go bold, or go home.
Ella, Nicolas, Kelly, and Wesley all agreed that there was to be no chickening out, transformation-wise. See what happened when we sent four down-for-whatever editors to Hairstory to achieve the hair of their dreams with color guru, Roxie Darling, and stylist extraordinaire, Wes Sharpton. We wouldn’t be shocked if you run to schedule your next cut and color moments after witnessing their #goals turned to reality.
